You Should Pay Your Debt Immediately, Or These 5 Things Will Happen To You



1. Your deeds in this world will be used to pay the debt.

"Those who die in a state still has debts of one dinar or dirham, then the debt will be repaid with kindness (on the Day of Judgment) because there (the Hereafter) no longer dinar and dirham." (Ibnu Majah no. 2414.)

2. Your soul will trapped in this world.

"The soul of a believer is still dependent on his debt until he pay it off." (Tirmidzi no. 1078.)

3. You are a thief.

"Anyone who does not want to pay back what they owe from others, then he will meet Allah (on the Day of Judgment) in status as a thief." (Ibnu Majah no. 2410.)

4. You will not be prayed by other Muslims.

Narrated by Salamah ibn al-Akwa 'radi' anhu, he said:

"We sat on the side of the Prophet p.b.u.h. Then one body of corpse was put infront of him . Then he asked, "Is he in debt?" They (the Companions) said, "No." Then he said, "Did he leave anything?". So they (the Companions) said, "No." Then he p.b.u.h. perform funeral prayer to the corpse.

Then come another body of corpse. Then the companions said, "O Messenger of perform a funeral prayer to him!" Then he asked, "Is he in debt?" They (the Companions) said, "Yes." Then he said, "Did he leave anything?" Then they (the Companions ) replied, "Yes, of 3 dinars." Then he perform the funeral prayer to the corpse.


Then comes again the third victim and his companions said, "Perform funeral prayer for him!" He asked, "Is he leaving anything?" They (the Companions) said, "Nothing." Then he asked, "Is he in debt?" They said, "There are three dinars." he said, "O my companions, perform funeral prayer for this corpse." Then Abu Qotadah said, "O Messenger of Allah, please perform the funeral prayer. I'll bear the debt." Then the Prophet performed the funeral prayer." (HR. Bukhari, no. 2289)

5. You'll not be forgiven even though you died as a martyr.

"All the sins of the martyr will be forgiven except debts." (Muslim no. 1886.)
